Daily Doodle: Portrait – Little D: The Mini Scientist

Song of the Day: Supernova by Powerman 5000

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h48ozMZP70Y

Musical Pipe Dream: In this musical pipe dream, I’m singing lead. My body is possessed by the music and I require prescription goggles in lieu of my glasses in order for them to stay on my face. I’m sweaty and I’m owning it.

Blurb 1/365: I’ve been slowly but surely (shirley) ridding my life of filth. It’s been difficult, because wallowing in it became quite a habit. Bad habits are difficult to break, but it is possible. Filthy anxiety, go away. Filthy unnecessary guilt, go away. Filthy negative thoughts, go away. Filthy people that usurp my positive energy, go away. As I slowly rid myself of filth, all that’s left is what’s worth living for.

Song of the Day: Try a Little Tenderness as sung by Otis Redding

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KiDq4Q62tz4

Musical Pipe Dream: This video of Otis Redding’s performance in Sweden is magical. His slight movement and groove when the horns come in, the tempo, the audience feeling the music, the bridge, the breakdown, the band, everybody feeling the magic, the two encores, the kids getting their bags ready to leave, the third encore, the audience going nuts, the horn section having to step up to another part of the stage to back up from the audience, the announcer just doing his thing, THE BAND, Otis Redding … my musical pipe dream was that I was actually there. This is the kind of stuff I thank the YouTube gods for.

Blurb 1/365: “It’s easy to give advice, and it’s even easier not to take it.”

Daily Doodle: Super Mario Cereal with Marshmallows

Song of the Day: Pillar Box Red by The The

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m0EDX_lylgE

Musical Pipe Dream: I’m on the keys in this one; an odd mini piano that only comes up to my knees. I also see myself doing a weird dance step. Imagine two three foot sticks stuck in the ground with string pulled across them to make a big equal sign with about two feet in between each string. The dance step I’m thinking about is me trying to side step in between the two pieces of string. The leading foot steps, the following foot crosses over the leading foot and so on. This dance step requires a jacket with coat tails.

Blurb 1/365: (O_O)

Musical Pipe Dream: Robots are frolicking in a field with butterflies fluttering around them. Yoshimi gets a medal.

Blurb 1/365: My childhood toy was a Hello Color stuffed animal that I named Elephie; an elephant wearing green shorts. “Wanna play stuffed animal parade?”–Ralph Wiggum

Daily Doodle: Space Music (a doodle drawn while my Mom kicked all of our butts at playing Dominion tonight!)

Song of the Day: Space Oddity by David Bowie

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uhSYbRiYwTY

Musical Pipe Dream: For about 10 years, I have had a complete vision of an animation I want to create in the Ender universe with Space Oddity being the soundtrack. It would be about the time in Battle School where they don’t tell Ender and his toons about a battle until the last minute. It would show them eating breakfast, all the other armies being ready in the Battle Room, Ender jogging towards the Battle Room and jumping up to touch a part of the ceiling, his army jogging close behind him and jumping up to touch the same part of the ceiling, the Battle Room door opening, and epic battle of skill, desperation, and deceit, and ultimately triumph as a soldier passes through the door. The animation continues with Ender in space in a ship with three seats, out of the spaceship window is a view from Earth at a distance, a flash of Ender facing two empty seats, a flash of Ender facing seats occupied by Peter and Valentine, then a flash of Ender alone again, far away. Finally, a view of an interpretive figure of Jane as she dances, hops on stars, and flows through space.

Blurb 1/365: It’s all up there in my head, all I have to do is get it down there to reality.

Song of the Day: Cutie Pie by One Way

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c24g4xZhHXQ

Musical Pipe Dream: My sister’s neighbors were having a party loud enough to wake the entire neighborhood. Across the street a party goer was on top of their dining room table in front of a bay window doing the Ham dance. I think of this fondly when I hear this song.

Daily Blurb: I was watching the Colbert Report tonight and Alan Cumming was the guest, promoting his one man show of Macbeth.

Do you remember the movie “Bernard and the Genie”? I remember watching that on VHS. My mom would pick up movies for us before coming home from work. It was a video rental place that had all the VHS covers on a wall with tokens below on a hook. This would signify how many copies were left. One night, she brought home “Bernard and the Genie”. It starred Alan Cumming and Lenny Henry. Which made me think about the show “Chef!”. Do you remember “Chef!”?
