Song of the Day: You Got Me Wide Open by Bootsy Collins featuring Bernie Worrell

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WAfgOAJMh5c

Musical Pipe Dream: I’m sitting at the back end of a stage playing the drums. I’ve got a microphone nearby my head so I can turn my head to sing backup. “Sittin’ on a groove and he wanna play …” Then I can snap my head back to break into the next part of the song.

Blurb 1/365:

Blurb 1/365: I remember listening to the Friday soundtrack for the first time on cassette tape. I got it from The Wherehouse and it was packaged in a cardboard case that slipped on from one of the short ends. I had a clock radio that I kept on the side of my bed that was against a wall next to my pillow. It was a big, rectangle block that had sharp edges. There was a tape deck that popped up from the top. I would quietly click it down and listen to tapes on the lowest volume. I let a friend borrow it to record onto a blank cassette tape and when he returned it, I made some smart comment about it not being rewound. He said, “Who are you, Blockbuster?” Then I remembered the movie Kathleen Turner was in called Serial Mom where she killed that person that didn’t rewind their rented video tapes. I remember the oddest things.

Song of the Day: Fame by Irene Cara

Musical Pipe Dream: I’m in a shopping mall and a whole group of people start to dance to this song. I join in with others and we perform the number. Near the ending of song, we all get in formation and do fouettes. At the end we all stop in unison with our feet firmly on the ground, arms outward with palms up, looking up into the sky with spotlights shining down on us.

Blurb 1/365: “I hate you, Leroy from Fame!”

Song of the Day: “Halloween” theme by John Carpenter

Musical Pipe Dream: In a shopping mall, my husband and I are standing behind keyboards and are about arms length apart. I’m playing the main keys while he’s playing the undertones. Our legs are at a medium stance and we are staring forward. As shoppers walk by, they ignore both us and the neck pillow salesman.

Blurb 1/365: I hate having things around the front of my neck, yet I don’t like wearing low-cut shirts. I despise wearing necklaces and the thought of a turtleneck makes be plunge my chin down. Ahh!

Song of the Day: Tonari No Totoro by Joe Hisaishi

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jz-tktACBV8

Musical Pipe Dream: I’m on stage in a huge auditorium jamming on a keyboard. The audience members are waving their arms and singing along with stars in their eyes. There’s a guy on stage drumming a hand held drum that’s hooked up to an amplifier with only one drum stick. A very energetic woman is singing. There are Totoros on stage and in the aisles between the seats. It’s magical.

Blurb 1/365: Bark! Bark bark bark bark! BARK.

Musical Pipe Dream: I’m playing the acoustic guitar on the sidewalk. My face is painted like a clown and when I’m singing my eyebrows go up and down.

Blurb 1/365: It’s going to be a great day tomorrow because it’s up to you.

Song of the Day: The Way You Look Tonight by Fred Astaire from Swing Time

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dIW_Ah0wg-w

Musical Pipe Dream: I’m slow dancing on a cruise ship. The dancing is understated and has small, playful accents. I lean forward slightly and my toe points down and back. In one fluid move, I go into a dip and my toe slides to the front into a small kick that doesn’t go beyond the width of my skirt.

Blurb 1/365: BE excited. BE BE excited.
